Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

It Starts With Inclusion

Bloom knows that the best workplaces are inclusive ones. Everything we do is done through the lens of inclusion. We celebrate the intersections of our diverse experiences, perspectives and identifies and welcome everyone we connect with to being their whole selves to work. Although we educate some of the worlds best companies on diversity, equity and inclusion we realize there’s much more we can and must do to build more equitable workplace experiences and help dismantle systems that oppress people at work at beyond.

To start, we invest in quarterly Diversity and Inclusion training for all of our entire team. We know that being an ally is a life long journey and we take collective action daily to show up for the communities that need our support the most.

We're actively creating a new normal – for ourselves, and our clients. And we’re holding ourselves accountable to it. This is how we begin.

Black Lives Matter

As a Black owned business, Black lives have and will always matter to us. We support our people and our clients in joining the demand for sustained change. At Bloom, we show our support by donating to organizations like Black Women in Motion and donate our time to Black owned businesses, often. If you run a Black owned company or NFP please reach out to learn more about the cost-free services we offer.

We’re also thoroughly exploring how we can better advocate change and further support BIPOC communities — from creating more in-depth learning experiences, offering our clients Anti-racism training to building strategic community partnerships with companies like Feminuity; we are doing everything we can to build a better and more equitable world for all.

As part of our commitment to build better we have implemented mandatory training and education on systemic racism, racial inequality and social injustice.

Bloom team members participate in learning experiences monthly to help them continue to learn and grow. Bloom employees have learnt about conscious and unconscious bias, micro-inequities, calling in vs. calling out, microaggressions, stereotypes, inclusive language, privilege, effective ally-ship, self-advocacy and more. At Bloom, our goal is to ensure that all of our people care deeply about inclusion and take sustained action towards positive change through the work they do.

Celebrating the 2SLGBTQIA+ community

We made a promise to champion diversity, equity and inclusion — as part of this commitment we’re listening, learning and taking action. We don’t limit our support and celebration for the 2SLGBTQIA+ community to one month of the year—we work to be better allies all year long. You can learn more about what we have done (and continue to do) here.

The Bloom Approach

We take a human-centred approach to building inclusive workplace experiences — from hiring and on-boarding, to learning and development — we care deeply about everyone having the opportunity to bring their whole selves to work. That means we take an intentional approach to connecting with talented people from underrepresented communities. We encourage every candidate to bring their authentic intersectional selves to the Bloom interview process. We believe that the best interview experiences are inclusive ones. The most effective way to conduct an inclusive interview process is to keep our approach as consistent as possible. It’s for this reason that we do not conduct an anonymous interview process.

We value the unique identity, experience and perspective that every candidate brings to the interview process. With internal referrals, second-degree connections and ambitious applicants reaching out to hiring managers, it is impossible to maintain a consistently anonymous interview process for all candidates making it nearly impossible for us to ensure the process is equitable and fair.

We do the right thing — doing what’s right starts with doing everything we do with care. We care deeply and build inclusively.

If you have an experience with anyone at Bloom that does not align with what has been shared above, please contact our Founder + CEO, Avery Francis – she’d be happy to support you.
